It’s official—we’ve kicked off preparations for the upcoming UITP Summit, which will take place in Hamburg in 2025!  On October 15th, we proudly partnered in launching this significant event, welcoming over 150 esteemed guests from the realms of business, academia, and associations to unveil the concept for the UITP Summit 2025.

The UITP Summit is set to welcome more than 10,000 international visitors from June 15 to 18, 2025, marking it as one of the most important global mobility events of the year. This summit aims to highlight innovative mobility solutions that promote sustainable urban living. The public will get a chance to engage with the theme of the mobility transition on June 14, 2025, making it an interactive experience for all. The local organizers include Hamburg’s public transportation provider, Hamburger Hochbahn AG, along with MOIA, Hamburg Messe and Congress GmbH, New Mobility Solutions Hamburg GmbH, and the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.

Keynote Speakers Highlight the Importance of Urban Mobility

The launch event featured insightful speeches from prominent figures in the mobility sector, including Daniela Kluckert, the Parliamentary Secretary at the German Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport; Dr. Anjes Tjarks, Senator for Transport and Mobility Transition; and Mohamed Mezghani, Secretary General of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP). Each speaker emphasized the significance of Hamburg as a key player in the mobility landscape, outlining the planned program and thematic focuses of the summit. Their presentations stressed the urgency of embracing innovative strategies and collaborative approaches to enhance urban mobility, especially in light of rapid urbanization and climate change challenges.

Engaging Panel Discussion on Future Mobility Solutions

Following these enlightening speeches, a dynamic panel discussion ensued, featuring Sascha Meyer, CEO of MOIA; Robert Henrich, Chairman of the Board at Hamburger Hochbahn AG; Dr. Anjes Tjarks; and our own COO, Jana Neumann. The topic of discussion was "Opportunities & Challenges in Integrating New Digital Mobility Services into Urban Transport Systems."

Panelists explored how cutting-edge mobility solutions can be seamlessly integrated into existing urban systems, paving the way for innovative advancements in public transport. They discussed the necessity of collaboration between various stakeholders, including local governments, transportation providers, and technology companies, to create an integrated approach that benefits citizens and fosters sustainable growth. The panel highlighted the critical need for focused strategies in shared mobility, emphasizing that clear objectives and streamlined operations can lead to more effective solutions for urban transport challenges.

Emphasizing the Role of Shared Mobility in Urban Development

The discussions also addressed the vital role shared mobility plays in enhancing urban living. By reducing reliance on personal vehicles, shared mobility solutions can alleviate traffic congestion, lower carbon emissions, and free up public spaces for parks and recreational areas. This not only contributes to a healthier environment but also promotes community building and social interaction among residents.

As cities continue to grapple with the challenges of urbanization, the integration of shared mobility solutions into existing transportation frameworks can enhance accessibility and affordability. This synergy can lead to more liveable cities where residents have easy access to a range of transportation options, contributing to a higher quality of life.

Looking Forward to UITP Summit 2025

We’re excited about what lies ahead as we move toward UITP Summit 2025, a pivotal event for the mobility sector. This summit will serve as a global platform for sharing insights, discussing best practices, and exploring innovations that can shape the future of transportation. As we prepare to welcome a global audience to Hamburg, we look forward to a year filled with inspiring discussions and groundbreaking innovations in urban mobility.
